Finally in the gallery search series of blog post, I have introduced searching by subject and location. For example Giraffe at the zoo or rivers in the lake district. Each image is tagged with a description for the subject as well as a location tag. Searching across both of these items returns images of the subject in the specified location. Certain key words are used to determine if the user has searched for a location, at, or, in, by are but a few. As yet it doesn’t work well with plurals, so ‘rivers in the lake district’ doesnt’ work but ‘river in the lake district’ does.

Searching Images by Location
Thursday, March 19th, 2009Searching Images By Colour
Monday, March 16th, 2009Following on from the gallery search, I am working on a simple little script to crawl through the colours of an image allowing searches using a specific hex colour value. For example light blue images tend to show sky, whereas red images show flowers, beers and flags. I am still trying to find the optimum balance between the colours when searching. Something which I will go into greater detail here later.

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009This is the place to test design and develop different web applications using a comination of PHP, MySQL, JavaScript and Images. One of my interests is photography so I am looking to combine both images and the web, creating new and innovative galleries. A current example can be seen clicking the following link. View pictures of me or pictures of roses. These links require JavaScript to be enabled.
